The Main Points on the Destiny Matrix

1. Center: this is your core energy; your inner self

2. Portrait: how others perceive you; your outward personality

Outer Self

The 3-arcana tail on the left is what makes up your personality. This is your social presentation, not your core self. It is a combination of how you’re perceived and your upbringing.

Parent - Child Relationship Karma

The two arcana after your Portrait number reveal your relationship with your parental figures. These can reveal what you experienced in childhood, what you lacked, and patterns formed that affect your personality. These numbers, usually the arcana closest to the heart chakra and core, reveal the relationship with your children.

Talents and Potential

The top line of your matrix holds the gifts that may feel so innate that you've undervalued them, and potential that's still waiting to be fully claimed. This line often points to the work that feels effortless to you and inexplicable to everyone else.

Karmic Tail

The inherited karma you already carry from a past life. The karmic tail reveals the repeating patterns, unconscious tendencies, and unresolved programs your soul brought in to work through.

Love Line

The diagonal axis governs your energetic blueprint in romantic partnership. From left to right, it starts with the karmic pattern you’ve been running in love, then reveals the energy your soul feels safest with, and how your relationship patterns and your financial patterns are wired together.

Money Line

Your relationship with abundance, material security, and the energy of receiving. The money line doesn't just show earning potential — it reveals your subconscious beliefs about worth, what you think you have to do to deserve financial security, and where fear or scarcity programming may be in the way of your abundance.

Ancestral Lines

The left and right diagonal lines of your matrix carry the energetic and karmic patterns passed down through your family line. The top left to bottom right is the male ancestry line, and the top right to bottom left is the female ancestry line. These arcana are often overlooked, but working with these lines is an underrated healing work available in the matrix.

Heart’s Desires

The two arcanas in green, sitting between your center point and the left and top positions, hold two of your heart chakras in the physical and energetic space. This is what your soul actually longs for beneath ambition and conditioning, and it will show where you are imbalanced in your heart chakra.

Life Cycles

The tiny numbers next to the age ranges each represent your yearly influences by arcana. The eight arcana in the main and ancestral points also count as life cycles. This can be a great tool to plan for business, marriage, pregnancy, and so on. There can also be interesting mirrors and repetition when we look at the life cycles as a whole in a chart.

This is not to be confused with a life path number. A life path number is calculated by adding up your birthdate and reducing it to a single-digit number. For example:

07/20/1999 = 7 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 37 → 3+7 = 10 → 1+0 = Life Path 1

The central arcana is calculated by adding up your outer left, top, outer right, and bottom arcana numbers and reducing that number down until it’s less than 22. For example, using the same birthday:

Potrait 20 + Talent 7 + Material 10 + Karmic 10 = 47 → 4+ 7 = Center 11

Why is the central arcana important?

The number at the center of your Destiny Matrix corresponds to one of the 22 Major Arcana, and it connects to every line in your chart.

Your inner world — how you privately experience life, regardless of how it looks from the outside. Two people can have identical circumstances and radically different internal experiences of them. That difference often lives here.

Your subconscious motivations — the why underneath your why. The drives, fears, and orientations that shape your choices before you’ve had a chance to think about them consciously.

Your core life lessons — not the ones you chose, but the ones your soul signed up for. The central arcana tends to show up loudest in the areas of life where you feel most tested, because that’s where the deepest growth is being asked of you.

Unlike your karmic tail, which is inherited energy from past cycles, or your love line, which is relational energy, the central arcana is purely internal. It’s the lens through which you process everything else in your matrix.

Let’s dive into the 22 central arcana and what each reflects about your inner world, subconscious motivations, strengths, and shadow work.

As a reminder, we look at arcana as energy. Two people born on the same day will have the same destiny matrix. But how those arcanas speak — what they illuminate, what they ask of you — will be entirely different, because energy is not static. It moves, and it shifts, and there is interpretive freedom.

1 — The Magician

The Magician at your center means your inner world is one of immense creativity and abundance, and the life lesson is learning to trust it. Your subconscious is always working, always building, always reaching for what could be. I was endlessly patient with people, endlessly available to relationships that asked me to be the anchor, the adult, the one who held it together while quietly wondering when someone would do that for me.

I went to therapy and worked on my attachment style. I worked on my shit from childhood. But yet, I was still experiencing the same type of men. The almost men.

Then I looked at my love line.

The number sitting at the heart of my relationship axis is arcana 4: the Emperor. This man is structured and grounded, has built something in himself, and holds it steady. What I kept experiencing was the opposite: Peter Pans, avoidants, emotionally unavailable men who couldn’t locate their own center, let alone hold space for mine. And because that Emperor energy was absent in my partnerships, I became it. I ran masculine energy so hard in my relationships that I lost track of my own softness.

And my karma on the love line? The Hanged Man: suspended…waiting…always waiting for someone to see me finally.

That’s the love line, and today we’re going to dive into the line on the Destiny Matrix that everyone wants to understand.

What is the love line?

The love line — sometimes called the heart line or relationship axis — is a specific diagonal running through your Destiny Matrix that governs your energetic blueprint in romantic partnership. It shows three things most people spend years in therapy trying to figure out:

• The karmic pattern you’re running in love,

• The kind of energy you’re meant to partner with,

• And the future path of your romantic connection and how it feels, and how your relationship builds your abundance.

That last one surprises people. The person you invest in a relationship with indeed determines your net worth.

The three positions on your love line

The love line has three key points, each corresponding to an arcana:

Your karmic pattern in love (K) — starting at the karmic tail, this arcana reveals what unconscious program you’ve been running in relationships. Ever wonder why you keep attracting the same type of person, even though you swear you’ve grown? This explains not just who you chose, but also the pattern or feeling you repeat or unconsciously recreate. This is what keeps you stuck in familiar dynamics.

Your partnership energy (S) — the arcana with the heart next to it represents what you’re energetically designed to attract and flourish with. Not your “type” as you’ve historically chosen it, but the kind of “soulmate” energy your soul will thrive with.

Your relationship path (A) — the arcana that links your relationship energy to your material world. This position shows how your sense of worth in love and your sense of worth financially are wired together, and how that wiring forms the future trajectory of your relationship when you tap into that arcana energy.

What to do with what you find

The love line isn’t a verdict of your fate, it’s a map of your energetic default. It’s what you’ve been running unconsciously, and what you’re actually capable of when you start running it with awareness.

A few places to start:

Look at the gap between your partnership energy and who you’ve historically chosen. That gap is your work.

If you over-give in relationships, do you over-give financially too? If you wait in love, do you second-guess your abundance rather than going after it? This axis is telling you something about how you see your value.

For me, knowing the Emperor is in my love line wasn’t surprising. I’ve always dreamt of being with someone strong and steady, someone who I can lean on. However, my pattern is waiting (Hanged Man) for men to become an Emperor. For me to move towards the love I’ve always wanted, my biggest lesson and active direction is to stop abandoning myself.

What I started to realize was this nagging thought in the back of my mind: I will never be enough.

Because the moment I hit a goal, the goalpost has already moved, literally or figuratively.

In my Destiny Matrix, I have the Warrior (12-19-7) in my karmic tail. I didn’t resonate with the description of it at first. I’m supposed to be aggressive, prone to fighting, reluctant to change, and unable to settle down.

I’m not an aggressive person, per se. I’m the mediator amongst my family and friends; I don’t love conflict, and I’m generally even-keeled.

But when I thought about my restlessness, I realized my aggression is mostly internal. I’ve been living my life as if I have something to prove, that I can fix anything and anyone. And when you feel not enough, life experiences will reveal and perpetuate patterns.

That’s what the karmic tail is.

What exactly is the karmic tail?

Think of it as your soul’s inherited software. It’s not necessarily inherited from your parents, but experiences with them can exacerbate it.

The karmic tail is a reincarnation, not fate. It’s unfinished business from past cycles that didn’t get resolved, looking for resolution through you in this lifetime, so that you can move forward and carry on new patterns in the next life.

What it actually looks like in real life

Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, your patterns, wounds, and the circumstances that show up in your life come in strange repetitions? The ones therapy helps with, but doesn’t fully dissolve.

Oftentimes, it’s the same kind of person in a different font who triggers a pattern again and again. You might be drawn to certain professions or groups of people. These happenstances don’t have an obvious origin story. You feel like you’re not seeking these things out deliberately, but somehow, it finds you anyway.

A few examples:

Sofia has a revolving door of on-and-off relationships. She loves the idea of falling in love, but once it gets too real, she’s off chasing a whole new person. She often finds herself pining after men who are evasive or can’t be there for her.

• Her karmic tail: The Love Magic (18-6-6).

• The pattern: fears of abandonment or losing oneself in a relationship

Marcus has always had big dreams that, for some reason, never came into fruition. His problem wasn’t that he was lazy — he was meticulous, actually. But every time an obstacle appeared in the way of his goal, he would give up just as easily as he started something.

• His karmic tail: Pride (6-5-17)

• The pattern: pride and misuse of talent

The karmic tail doesn’t create your circumstances. It shapes how you meet them; what you instinctively reach for and what you unconsciously avoid.

How to find your karmic tail

Pull up your matrix. If you don’t have it yet, use one of the free calculators I shared in the first post, and come back.

Once you have your chart, look at the bottom line from the center point — the tail of our matrix. The numbers sit along that line. Each number corresponds to one of the 22 arcanas.

The karmic tail is comprised of all three arcanas. When we break them down individually:

• Top: The arcana to overcome that’s blocking progression or repeated patterns

• Middle: The energy you have (or don’t have) that causes you to attract certain people and relationships.

• Bottom endpoint: The energy you are meant to master to balance this karmic tail

Now what?

Get curious. Here’s where to go next:

Ask yourself: where in my life does this feel most charged? Karmic patterns tend to be most apparent in relationships, finances, and creative expression, especially in places where our sense of worth is most exposed.

The karmic tail isn’t meant to be fixed, let alone resolved in one day. There are always pluses and minuses in every aspect of us. To be conscious of the why in your patterns is the first step to “plussing up”.

For me, the Warrior energy isn’t going anywhere. I’m still driven. I still want to build things. But I’ve started to notice when the drive is coming from desire versus from trying to prove my worth. That distinction, as small as it sounds, has shifted a lot for me.

So, what actually is the Destiny Matrix?

The Destiny Matrix was created by Russian numerologist Natalia Ladini in 2006. It’s most widely practiced in Russia and Eastern Europe, where it has been deeply developed and refined. It draws from numerology, the 22 Major Arcana of Tarot, and the chakra system.

Calculated from your date of birth into a specific formula, the numbers are mapped onto a single octagram chart.

How it works

Every number within it corresponds to one of 22 arcanas, and is placed at specific points on a grid, or as I like to call it, your soul map. Each position on it represents a different dimension of your energy: where you came from, what you’re here to build, what’s blocking you, and what you’re naturally magnetic to.

Here’s the basic breakdown of what the key positions actually mean:

The Center Point — This is your core energy. The number sitting at the heart of your matrix is the arcana representing your inner self.

The 4 Corner Points — These represent your karmic inheritance (what you brought in from past lives), your material karma (what you do to activate financial flow), your talent (where you’re magnetic), and your relational energy (how you show up in connection with others).

The diagonal lines — The lines connecting your corners reveal your karmic programs: any recurring arcana that illuminate patterns or the lessons needed to reach a corner point. It also reveals your love, ancestral, and money lines.

Life cycles — The tiny numbers next to the age ranges each represent your yearly influences by arcana. This can be a great tool to plan for business, marriage, pregnancy, and so on. There can also be interesting mirrors and repetition when we look at the life cycles as a whole in a chart.

Health chart — Numbers are pulled from your Destiny Matrix and organized into a chart following the chakra system. This chart has been instrumental in helping me balance my sacral chakra by identifying the blind spots in my physical, emotional, and spiritual functions.

How is the Destiny Matrix different than a natal chart?

Unlike an astrological birth chart, fixed to a single moment in time, the Destiny Matrix is read through energy. Two people born on the same day will have identical matrices. But what those arcanas illuminate, and what they ask of each person, will be entirely different. Energy is not static.

Like a tarot reading, there is interpretive freedom, which is what I like so much about it.

That said, I don't think these systems compete. My work here sits at the intersection of multiple systems. Having a comprehensive analysis of both a natal chart and a Destiny Matrix together tells you more than either does alone.

Can Destiny Matrix calculate compatibility?

Yes, but with a caveat. Like all compatibility reports, it will not directly reveal whether you and your partner are meant to be. We also have to factor in timing and free will.

What the compatibility matrix will reveal is a rendition of your personal matrix, but as a partnership. You’ll see your karmic lesson, how others perceive you as a couple, how you perceive and trigger each other, and the energy each partner needs to have a successful relationship.
